Splice the Movie... and how it scared the sh*t out of me.

I had plans for the rest of the night, now I think I want to go for a cry after watching Splice. Its the kind of brilliant Sci Fi movie that gets into your brain with its clever opening sequence then Bursts into "What the fuck did I just see" and then into a nice Horror flick. It scared me from the very beginning and had me laughing and awwwing and omging through the entire film. Splice is the kind of story you might read in a book and wonder how the fuck someone could film such a crazy idea. We all think about crazy things but Director Vincenzo Natali offers them to you in a finely edited/paced horror/fantasy.

Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley are both really fantastic actors and really hit the NERD nail on the head. French Actress Delphine Chaneac is delicate, charming and deadly as the Hybrid Frankenstein creation. Unlike Species (a film most people think about when Splice is mentioned) Dren's sexuality is used appropriately and not over played. Honest actions. Honest reactions by all the characters make you forget that this is not a story.

The Visual Effects were jaw dropping. I was so wrapped up in the character interaction I'd forget to look at Dren's feet. How do they do it?! I can't wait for the Making of on Splice Blue Ray. Dren's character has only 4 fingers on each hand and it looks so realistic. More so than Avatar.

Beautiful, Grotesque... I want to see more.. and I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

For weeks I've been trying to figure out where I've seen Dren's Visual Effect (wide set eyes on video)

and i've finally figured it out. The old Playstation commercial... Watch it here:

Oh how I was obsessed with everything Chris Cunningham has done. If you haven't seen the DVD of his work you really should. Ground Breaking.

Now go to Http://splicethemovie.com and make your own splice... then go to the theater and see it. Just be prepared. Its Sci Fi.. Its Horror... It'll leave a nerve wracking residue on your skin that just won't come off no matter how hard you scrub.
