"The Avengers is my own starring vehicle for that character, pretty much," Jackson said in a group interview on Monday in Beverly Hills, Calif., where he was promoting the drama Mother and Child(which happens to open the same day as Iron Man 2, May 7).
Apparently he is making an appereance in both "Iron Man 2" and "Captain America", as Nick Fury, like he did in "Iron Man 1". For some reason he isn't showing up in Thor though. Hmmm, wonder what Kenneth Branagh was thinking. I think i have an opinion on that.
Personally, Jackson is a one hit wonder for me. Ok, maybe that's harsh, he is a good actor, but really needs a writer to know how to write a character for him and a director to snap him out of his ego. Case in point Quentin Tarantino. Samuel Jackson is who he is today because of
. Before that I just remember him getting shot in the head by Joe Pesci. Since Pulp Fiction, Jackson has basically tried to play the "bad ass" character without the genius writing of Tarantino and it isn't working. He has had some great apperences like in "Changing Lanes" and "Unbreakable", but those have been marred with such roles in "Snakes on a Plane" and "The Spirit."
Joss Whedon is a great writer, but i don't think he can write a character that will make Samuel Jackson not be a characture of himself. Time will tell, and if Nick Fury has a big role in Avengers, lets hope they don't F' it up.
